The good news is, you can experience this entire Free-To-Play crazy fest without it. This whole game was built-in mind to be a Saturday morning war cartoon…in VR. Luckily, this actually doesn’t play out like your standard multiplayer shooter, but a throwback to the late 90s-early 2000s of this genre, with a Goldeneye health system, vibrant gunplay, no iron sights (or ammunition for that matter) and mystical power-ups galore. I am one who enjoys the shooter genre very much, but for a style like this, I don’t think going the standard route would be an excellent fit. My biggest fear is that this setting would be nothing more than a skin and the gameplay itself would just be basic modern FPS combat. It’s basically a team-based first-person shooter set in a loony toons inspired World War II. We will be at E3 getting a hands on with the updated World War Toons game – so stay tuned for our thoughts there.World War Toons was probably not an extremely popular notice when revealed at PSX 2015, but I was interested. Also new were glimpses at some new maps including the epic looking zeppelin map (seen in the featured image) as well as what appeared to be some new lighting effects that seem to add a greater sense of depth to the cartoonified style. There were a number of things that we saw for the first time in this trailer – including new power ups like a giant ridable TNT rocket and a baby grand piano that drops out of the sky squashing an unwitting enemy. The new trailer shows off some of the core mechanics that make World War Toons the game it is – from zany powerups like a radioactive waste bucket that makes you toxic to enemies and move super quickly to the awesome player-tank mechanic.
